Blooming Branches Available 2/8/19

Our new vendor is supplying us with some magnificent blooming branches Many of you are familiar with the – White Cherry and Pink Cherry Branches that we have had in the past.
This year, we are bringing in White Tulip Magnolia and Black Tulip Magnolia. These are elegant deciduous trees with tulip shaped flowers. The Black Magnolia is one of the deepest purple flowers in nature. Originally bred in New Zealand, this hybrid Magnolia is a cross between Magnolia ‘vulcan’ and Magnolia ‘lolanthe.’
You would be hard-pressed to find this at any other florist in Honolulu. These will be available exclusively at the Blue Iris.
Far from ordinary, these are truly beautiful. These are not small branches either, they are approximately 6ft tall and full of buds waiting to bloom.

Care: Make a fresh cut of the bottom of the branch once you get them home. Some say to muddle the ends with a hammer, but there’s no need to pummel them to death. Using a sharp knife split the end of the freshly cut branch about a ½ inch. Place in room temperature water (this allows faster absorption of the water and will help hydrate the branches). Keep them looking great by repeating this process every three days. Look at the bottom of the branch and make a cut about one or two inches from the bottom. Remember to clean the stems of any buds or leaves that will fall into the water level.
