Spring is here! That means longer days, warmer weather, the advent of flowers in bloom, and of course, Mother’s Day. There’s nothing like the smell of fresh garden roses in a beautiful bouquet, but their lifetime is short-lived and inevitably it makes its way into the trash can. So this year, we’ve decided to focus on long-lasting gift alternatives for Mother’s day.
As some of you may already know, we carry hanging globes, terrariums, vivariums, table-top gardens, wreaths, and potted plants. With proper care, these living growing containers can outlast the best of any cut-flower arrangement. So long after those other gifts from your siblings have faded and have been thrown out, your gift will continue to shine brightly for mom! And who doesn’t want those kudos you’ll get from mom?
It is a proven fact that plants can enhance your living environment by creating a peaceful atmosphere. Plants not only make the air cleaner and healthier, they are also known to foster a creative learning environment. So pick up a plant, or a globe or table-top garden for Sunday’s brunch with Mom. Everyone will enjoy the benefits.
WHAT’S NEW: Hanging globes. No these aren’t the small globes we’ve had previously. These large glass globes are approximately 15” round and hung by a thick natural fiber rope. We’ve been able to create some beautiful mini-landscaped garden sanctuaries inside of them. Each one is uniquely different. Place the globe in a bright room with unfiltered (but not direct) sunlight. (Direct sunlight may cause the leaves to burn as glass magnifies light.) Water as needed, using distilled water (to prevent the glass from spotting) keeping the soil moist but not wet. If you over-water it, you will be able to see water collect at the bottom of the globe. Plants should not sit in standing water. Watering Tip: Take a few ice cubes and place them at the base of the plants. The ice will slowly melt allowing the plants to absorb the water gradually. It’s faster than watering, and there’s no worry about having to use distilled water to avoid water spots on the glass.
Square glass cubes. These
are just like the hanging globes though they are not spherical. Come back to check out what we’ve done with
these unique plant hangers.
So this Mother’s Day, give her a long-lasting gift that will continue to grow. Don’t just show your love, grow your love!
